Position title
Problem Solving Physicist – Mathematical Modelling

We are currently looking for a hands-on physicist who has an inventive and complex problem-solving background.  Working in Cambridgeshire, you will have access to a number of different highly complex projects.  These can range from inventing new technologies through to using unique problem solving or mathematical modelling skills to for solutions to highly complex issues.

Working within a team of highly skilled physicists, mechanical engineers, electronics engineers and software experts you will work on projects throughout a number of different sectors including security, medical devices, life sciences, scientific engineering, robotics and other highly complex fields.

Some of the projects you will work on will require security clearance, so you will either need to already hold security clearance or be able to obtain this.

We would expect, as a successful physicist, that you would hold a relevant degree within a physics, electronics or mechanical field.  If you also hold a PhD this would be advantageous, however not essential.

Essentially you will have a few years of industry experience where you would have worked on a range of different projects.  These will involve both experimental mechanical physics and software computational physics.

In relation to the computational physics part of the role, mathematical modelling, algorithm development, and other computational approaches will be essential.  Ideally strong knowledge of C, C++ or Python would good, or a proven track record of learning new coding skills.

It would also be good if you have some knowledge on optical or material physics, but not essential.

Something this company loves to see on CVs is people’s hobbies and interests. Ideally ones that showcase a broad interest in physics, science, problem solving, programming/coding or other complex fields that test your mind.  The feel this showcases a passion for physics rather than it just being a job.

This will be a highly sought-after role and once we find the right person the opportunity will be gone.  So, if you are a highly skilled physicist looking to be challenged apply now or miss out.

You will be rewarded with a different challenge every day, career progression, the latest skills and technology training, excellent salary, bonus and benefits package.
